MINNAMURRA BUYS 2 TOP BULLs from the 2024 JAD SALE

We were pleased to purchase Lot 2, Tambourine Man T76 (pictured) by Maungahina Northern Star, which we will use as a cover bull for our sire Maungahina Rising Star in our AI program.
We also purchased Lot 15, Tobruk T16, a Stands Alone son out of the Codiak Unique family. This cross has been so successful in producing standout females in the Minnamurra herd, and we’ll use him as a backup bull for the Stands Alone semen we still have in the can.
Both are standout bulls and have impressive carcase data that will complement our breeding program perfectly.

Minnamurra buys 2 top bulls at the JAD 2023 sale

Minnamurra have been very impressed with the Maungahina Legacy bull we purchased from the JAD last year (JAD Rare Cat R109) so we were pleased to secure two more Legacy bloodlines: Lot 3, JAD Sherrif S25 and Lot 2, JAD Solomon S31.
Both are standout bulls and have impressive carcase data that will complement our breeding program perfectly.

MINNAMURRA PAXTON P115 RETURNS HOME

Minnamurra had the confidence to pay the top price at the 2022 Southern Success Speckle Park sale to secure a bull they had originally bred and sold in their 2019 bull sale, Minnamurra Paxton P115, paying $24,000 for this proven Minnamurra Jaguar 4 year old son.

Sold by Hanging Rock and Blueridge Speckle Park, this March 2018-drop bull weighed 968kg, with an EMA of 140cm and IMF of 7.1%. Minnamurra’s general manager, Dennis Power, said that Paxton had proven himself and was extremely pleased to get him back. “We’ve always liked his figures, particular his birth weight figures”, he said. “His mother was a genuine 31kg birth weight and he was 36kg at birth – we have been trying to find a proven heifer bull like this for a while”.
Minnamurra Spring BULL Sale TOPS $42,000

Sixty bulls went under the hammer at Minnamurra’s Spring Sale in September, with the two year old bulls averaging $16,285 and the yearling bulls averaging $9,389. The sale topper was Minnamurra Regal R69, which went to Black Diamond stud in Victoria for $42,000.

MINNAMURRA BUYS MAUNGAHINA RISING STAR R286

We were so pleased to secure Rising Star for $65,000 at the Maungahina Stud Bull Sale in New Zealand on June 9th.
We really like his sire, Maungahina Northern Star, and considered that his son, Rising Star, was the standout bull in the catalogue, with exceptional weight for age and IMF figures. His dam is out of the great Codiak 8R family, the bloodline that we have had such success with in the carcase trials we have entered over the last few years.
We are confident that Maungahina Rising Star is another positive step forward in the breeding program at Minnamurra.

MINNAMURRA BUYS TOP LEGACY BULL

Minnamurra secured the sale topper at the recent JAD sale, Rare Cat R109, son of New Zealand sire Maungahina Legacy. We considered him to be the standout bull in a very impressive catalogue.

Another win at the Ekka – 5th YEAr in a row

Minnamurra were amongst the winners at the 2020 RNA paddock to palate awards at the Royal Brisbane show, taking out the Champion Carcase in the 100 day HGP Free Class, as well as third overall for a pen of 6 carcases. (A total of 150 steers were entered into this class). The winning carcase was by Minnamurra Jaguar J156 out of one of our Te Mania blood Angus cows. A very pleasing result considering we had sold virtually all our Speckle cross calves as weaners, due to the drought, and the few we retained were paddock fed right up to the entry weight, with no supplementary feeding at all. More proof of how well Speckle Park cattle do in dry conditions, and what a great meat cross Speckle x Angus is.

SIRE SHOOTOUT SUCCESS

Minnamurra Plunderer P196 was voted outright winner in the viewers’ choice section of the Sire Shootout Competion with double the votes of the second placed bull.

The competition was run by Australian Community Media (Rural Press) and attracted 83 entrants from all the major breeds in Australia. The bull was required to be registered with a breed society and for sale in 2020 through either a private treaty or a public auction. Plunderer P196 will feature in our onsite sale on September 4th.
